First Aid for School Environments

This course has been adapted to suit the particular needs presented by the school environment and conforms to the standards required by law. The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, and is suitable for all school staff.

The First Aid for Schools Syllabus includes:

• First Aid Priorities
• Basic Life Support
• Examination of a Casualty
• Asthma
• Burns and Scalds
• Control of Bleeding
• Recording and Reporting
• Regulations
• Managing Incidents
• Medical Emergencies
• Unconsciousness
• First Aid Kits
• Anaphylaxis

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student. There is no final exam.

Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years.
